In this home, the support of the floor in one room was not installed correctly.  All efforts should be made to eliminate earth to wood contact.  As you can see, the wood is rotting because of the moisture from the ground.  Also, this provides an excellent avenue for termites and other wood destroying organisms, a path to enter the home.
